I am going to tell you something I hope you will never know. I will tell you how a heart can break and tears can constant flow. I lost my baby boy, you see, so precious in my eyes. God chose to take his hand one day and led him to the skies. Please do not forget my child, he is a person too. Forever he will live inside of me and you. Please do not tell me that time will heal my pain. not Not even time, can bring him back again! Tell me he is happy in that land up above. He is snuggled in an angel's wings, all wrapped up in our love.

"4.5 million stillbirths occur each year worldwide" according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The reported stillbirth rate in the industrialized world is typically under 10 per a 1000 total births. The statistics for Canada in 2001 are 2,038, an increase of 3.5% from 2000 (Statistics Canada).

Causes of stillbirth include congenital abnormalities, placental abruption, umbilical cord accidents, infection, and maternal complications of pregnancy such as hypertension and diabetes. More then 25% of stillbirths are due to unknown complications.

If still born parents are to change the way in which society views stillbirth, we need to research and raise awareness. Stillbirth occurs often, stillbirth occurs more often then that of SIDS, yet there is a failure to research why it occurs, and to implement proactive prenatal care as a method of prevention. Is our loss not as equality important to deaths caused by SIDS? Are our children non-existent because society views our children as products of conception, to be nothing more then simply a fetus? Do they not realize that these are our children, our future?
